         Today, there is an amazing change in every work field, because of the technology’s high progressing speed. This change affects people, who are working in these fields, both physically and mentally. To make these people work more productive and efficient, characteristics of people and work must be taken into consideration. This is simply the working area of ergonomics.

        The basic mission of ergonomics is to make work arrangements according to the worker characteristics. So we can say that ergonomics is a structure, which arranges the relations between workers and work environment. The basic aim of ergonomics is the adaptation of work to the workers.

        Ergonomics includes the analysis of human’s anatomic, anthropometric characteristics, psychological and physical capabilities. With the help of these information, it tries to make laws about human-machine-environment adaptation. So it can also be called as a research and development tool.

        As mentioned before, ergonomics uses methods of psychology, biology, anatomy and physiology sciences to solve the problems. It is included in many science branches such as medicine, engineering, management and econometrics. As seen ergonomics is a multidiscipline.
